The 31st of Shahrivar, the anniversary of the beginning of the imposed war by the Ba'athist regime of Iraq against the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been designated as the beginning of the Sacred Defense Week.
Eight years of the nation's valiant defense against the enemy's brutal aggression became a source of endless national pride for the valiant people of Iran, and it turned the joint conspiracy of the East and West to bring the great Iranian nation to its knees into an opportunity to prove the capabilities of Islam, the Revolution, and the country. The valor of the brave youth insured the Revolution and the system and showed that with the support of the people and under the light of the rule of Islam and the unity of forces, any stubborn enemy can be defeated.
These days, when the Sacred Defense is remembered, a world of honor and epic of a noble and free nation is evoked in the minds, which bestows a special fragrance of spirituality and purity upon us. A nation that, by nurturing epic-creating warriors, demonstrated the clear concept of "devotion to the Velayat" and, with the motivation of "fulfilling duty," followed their "source and leader," without hesitation, rushed to the fronts of truth against falsehood and depicted the dawn of an unparalleled love and achieved a great victory, which was the protection of every inch of the Islamic land and the preservation of the school and belief.
Lovers of God departed from our land,
The sorrow of our countless grief surpassed its limit.
Our hearts went with this caravan,
Our hopeful eyes remained on the path.
Some found their destination and purpose,
Alas, our anticipation did not come to an end.
We ran for a lifetime in pursuit of union, and in the end,
Our grieving heart burned in separation.
Friends were freed from the bonds of attachments,
We remained with old memories beside us.
Alas, the days of martyrdom came to an end,
Burning, melting, and sighs became our offering.
The caravans have all departed,
Our wounded body remains.
