Department of Geography
The Department of Geographical Sciences at Lorestan University commenced operations in 2007 with one faculty member (Dr. Dariush Yarahmadi) and the admission of students in the undergraduate program of Climatology. In subsequent years, with the increase in the number of faculty members specializing in geography, such as climatology, urban planning, political geography, geomorphology, and rural planning, the admission of students in the field of climatology at the Master's and Doctoral levels began in 2013. In 2014 and 2017, with the establishment of the Geography and Sacred Defense and Geography and Tourism Planning programs, student admission in the Master's programs of these fields commenced.
The Department of Geography currently has 8 faculty members with the specializations mentioned above, of which 3 hold the rank of Associate Professor and 5 hold the rank of Assistant Professor.
The number of graduates from the Department of Geography to date is 350 at the undergraduate level, 59 at the Master's level, and 10 at the Doctoral level. Furthermore, the number of currently enrolled students in the department is 107 at the undergraduate level, 96 at the Master's level, and 22 at the Doctoral level.
